Authorship and Contributorship Criteria

The Journal of Education and Pedagogy (JEP) recognizes authorship based on substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research, as well as meaningful participation in the preparation and approval of the manuscript.

To be recognized as an author, an individual should meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Make a substantial contribution to the conception and design of the study; the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data; or other significant aspects of the research.
  2. Contribute to drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
  3. Approve the final version of the manuscript before publication.
  4. Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work and ensure that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

All individuals who meet the authorship criteria should be listed as authors. Individuals who have contributed to the research but do not meet all authorship criteria should be appropriately acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section.

Author Order and Corresponding Author

The authors should determine the order of authorship and identify the corresponding author before manuscript submission. The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the journal, coordinating communication among co-authors, and confirming that all authors have approved the submitted and final versions of the manuscript.

Any changes to the authorship, including the addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors, after submission must be justified and approved by all authors. Such changes are subject to the approval of the Editor-in-Chief and may require written confirmation from all authors.

Contributorship

JEP encourages authors to disclose individual contributions to the research and manuscript using appropriate contributor-role descriptions, such as:

  • Conceptualization
  • Methodology
  • Investigation
  • Data curation
  • Formal analysis
  • Writing – original draft
  • Writing – review and editing
  • Supervision
  • Project administration
  • Funding acquisition, where applicable

Individuals who provide administrative assistance, general supervision, technical assistance, language editing, or other contributions that do not meet the authorship criteria should not be listed as authors solely on the basis of those contributions. Their contributions may be recognized in the Acknowledgments section.

JEP does not permit guest authorship, honorary authorship, or ghost authorship. All authors are expected to have made genuine and identifiable contributions to the published work.
